Christmas has been the inspiration for some of the most brilliantly conceived works of the great composers. It has also been the subject of many beautiful hymns and ballads, known as Christmas Carols. This music of Christmas has endured down through the years to bring the joy and triumph of the great event to all men.

Now, in this album, one of today's most brilliant conductors has expanded these carols to the full dynamic range of the symphony orchestra. Each one is presented as a beautiful orchestral work in a manner never before attempted with the simple melodies of the carols.

Felix Slatkin has assembled his largest group of strings - 90 pieces - and the result is a Christmas story full of power and majesty... of serenity and tenderness... of joy and merriment. This album will endure long after the tree and ornaments are taken down.

As played by the fantastic strings of Felix Slatkin, incomparable for their beauty and full, lush resonance, these carols will bring the true spirit of Christmas to everyone as only music can.

  1. This is indeed a marvelous recording. But there is a mistake in the track listing, both on the record itself or the sleve. Track 10 is not "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" but "O Come, Little Children". Just listen by yourself.

    Merry Christmas,
